Hiking Bryce Canyon

Today we got up bright and early to catch the sunrise over the hodos.  It was beautiful.

After our short sunrise hike we had some yummy breakfast at Bryce Canyon Pines which was just a short drive from our campsite.

We then started our day of hiking.  We went down the Navajo trail.  This trail is about .65 miles descending 550 feet (8000 feet to 7479 feet).  We combined this trail with the peek-a-boo loop this loop is 3 miles and descends 1555 feet.  This loop was sparsely populated and was a good tour through the different landscapes of Bryce.  Then we came out of the canyon using the Queens Garden trail .9 miles.

Made sure we had the recommended footwear!

To Start... lots of switch backs into the canyon, at least it was in the shade!

The wall of windows ----

The Queens Garden...can you see the Queen?

Treat after 4.5 miles of hiking!

We made it back to the airstream just time for it to start pouring down rain.  We had a relaxing afternoon of some iPad monopoly and TV!  We got cleaned up and headed to the Bryce Canyon Lodge for dinner.  This was our first experience at a lodge and it is not quite what I expected.  There was a lot of baseball caps and jeans.  The food was ok.

Started off with the Elk Chili....

Rob had the Red Rock Canyon Bison Stew

I had the Panguitch Pork tenderloin

It rained through the entire night!  We feel really bad for all those tent campers out there!
