Travel day to Bryce Canyon

Today we were up bright and early (this seems to be a trend on this vacation!)   We hooked up, pulled out of site and took the airstream on a tour of the park.

We took the long route to Bryce by going on Scenic Route 12, this added about an hour to the route but it is supposed to be the most scenic road.  It has long drop offs and curvy turns...but it was very scenic

We had a surprise stop along the way... it was not a planned stop but the highway drove right through Capital Reef National Park so we had to stop and get a picture and a magnet!   That was NP #3 of the trip for those that are counting.

Then we made another unscheduled stop for some very yummy lunch at the Burr Trail Grill.

Finally we made it to Ruby's Inn at Bryce Canyon.  It started sprinkling when we were checking in, little did we know what we were in for.  We were assigned site 167.  I requested a site with shade and close to the lake (that was pictured on the map)  This site was the closest to the lake... if there was one.  It was more like a dry river bed?   There were not a lot of people around.

Since we now had hook ups we turned the fridge back on to see if it would work.  And we made a trip to the Ruby's Inn store and Rob made a gourmet meal! It was a long day of driving and we rested up to do lots of hiking tomorrow!
